Ordinary People Talking about the things that make the most difference in Marriage
Creideamh features two marriage workshops
'Marriage At the Brink' In a desperate bid to save his marriage, Harry did a weekend with the Nazareth Family Institute
……. He came to see that large areas of hurt can be healed in a short space of time by being open to understanding and forgiving one another. He went away with renewed hope and determination, knowing that he was not alone in his time of need.
‘We Know All This’ thought Kevin and Fiona as they began a pre-marriage course. But as the workshop got into its stride, they found themselves listening more intently.. They had lived together for some years and only came along because it was a requirement for the church wedding they wanted to have. By the end of the course their eyes were opened on several fronts – they got to know more about the inevitable hurts that arise between a couple and how to deal with them; how our childhood experiences can influence the way husbands and wives react; some helpful hints about children and being good parents; the real meaning of the wedding ceremony and much more.
'In Love Again' - Bored and restless in their marriage Mary and Sean tried attending a marriage workshop with a difference …… They heard lots of ideas that helped rekindle their love for one another. They also found out how little acts of kindness can go a long way. By the end of the weekend they left with a new spring in their step – and a renewed and deeper love for one another than they ever thought possible.
Many would say that marriage is out of fashion and has had its day. Not so! In fact marriage is like part of our DNA. It really works because we are made for marriage in the same way that we are made to walk and run. We could even turn it on its head and say marriage is made for us! And it’s not just that a married couple who put time and commitment in have a wonderful and fruitful life together. Society too flourishes when marriages are happy and healthy and when children grow up in the security of a peaceful home with their parents. All the statistics underline these facts.
Some say marriage is under attack today. It’s true. It is! Lots of people say it’s best to live more casually – but deep down we know that’s not so.
A famous man once said ‘As the family goes, so goes the nation and so goes the whole world in which we live.’ That was Pope John Paul 2nd – and of course he was right. Healthy marriage and family means a healthy society.
Come along to the Creideamh Marriage Workshop – it will focus on many of the good things to do with marriage in a lively atmosphere which will include some ordinary people speaking of love and marriage, some music, opportunities to talk about the issues of the day that have a bearing on healthy married life and more.
Nazareth Family Institute will hold a Marriage Workshop at An Tobar Nua Thurs 9th @ 8pm
A second Marriage Enrichment workshop will be led by Fr Michael Mullan from the John Paul II Family Centre on Wed 15th @ 8pm
